Beards on Ice: Skating for Shelter
I am so proud of my colleague Jerry Aulenbach of Edmonton, AB that I wanted to share his successful fundraiser.
Beards on Ice comes to a close.
I have had a truly amazing experience skating across Canada in January and February. When I first had the idea for Beards on Ice: Skating for Shelter, I wanted it to be a fun series of events and to have a few people show up at each stop, and my initial goal was $1000. Needless to say, I was thrilled to see how many people skated with me and how many more donated. I can’t thank you enough. I think I had to raise my goal about 5 times, because we kept hitting it, and as I write this, we have raised $10,670 for the Royal LePage Shelter Foundation! Again, I can’t thank you all enough for your support and encouragement. I had some wonderful experiences along the way and many of you shared kind words with me. May we all be kinder to one another, and if you are in a situation that is not safe or healthy for you or your family, please take the first step to find safety. Maybe it’s calling a trusted friend, maybe it’s going to a shelter, maybe calling the police. Just know that you are not alone and there’s always someone who wants to help you out. Don’t be ashamed to ask. Helping you is what we do.
